Smithtown Veterans  Sporting Club

All potential members of the Smithtown Veterans Sporting Club must be Sponsored by an existing member of the club

 

1. Secure a Sponsor: You must know a current member willing to sponsor your application. Members are

    allowed to sponsor only one person per year.

 

2. Recommendation: The Sponsor must submit, in writing, a strong club recommendation letter that should      be formal, concise, and highlight the applicant’s character, personal achievements, and suitability for the

    community. It must include their relationship to the applicant, specific anecdotes illustrating their skills,

    and a confident endorsement of their character.

 

Instructions for Writing the Letter:

Header & Formal Opening: Include your contact info, the date, and the potential applicants’ contact info i.e. Name, Address, Phone and email.  (Must provide a current non-work email)

 

Address it to the: Membership Committee.

 

Introduction: State who you are, your relationship to the applicant, and how long you have known them (personally or professionally).

 

Body Paragraphs:

Character & Ethics: Vouch for their personality, integrity, and social demeanor.

 

Specific Examples: Instead of just listing traits, share a specific story or anecdote that illustrates their teamwork, leadership, or community contribution.

 

Club Alignment: Explain why they are a good fit for the SVSC (e.g., interest in shooting sports, community service, camaraderie).

 

Closing & Signature: Reiterate your strong recommendation and offer to provide further information if necessary.
